I was honored to be invited to the tasting night of the Italian Restaurant Vanitas at the “Palazzo Versace” Hotel that opened recently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates along some other bloggers.
Who doesn’t like Versace?
It is a luxurious fine dining experience with a meticulous attention to detail and impeccable service. The restaurant manager Mr. Giuseppe Palmieri came to our table and spend some good time explaining to us the several dishes in details. Thank you very much for your attention.
The degustation menu is just perfection.
I started with a Fragoleto of watermelon and strawberry. As I started drinking it, I immediately felt the flavor of almond which was the Amaretto Syrup. There was some black dots in it that I was wondering what they were. I asked about it and they told us that it is the blueberry seeds.
The appetizer was composed by some crispy bread, olives, a chickpea puree and a zucchini cream. They were all nice but my preference was the Zucchini cream. It had an amazing flavor. I would love to have the recipe.
They served us some fresh small baguettes. They are perfect exactly like the ones you can find in France.
Our meal began with the Crab and Endive Insalata with Avocado and Amalfi Lemon Zest. It was nice but I felt that the flavor of the crab was hidden by the endive insalata. I have then eaten first the crab alone with the sauce then ate the endive insalata separately, this is how I felt the amazing taste of the fresh crab.
The Ricotta Tortelli was served with a cherry tomato and garden basil puree. It was spectacular with a sublime mixture of flavors. As I started to eat the tortelli, the cherry tomato puree started to be mixed with the garden basil puree and the cheese which was a heavenly taste.
The Seared Marinated Scallops were exquisite. They were on a melted cheese with baby fennel and lobster coral. For me the sauce was a bit bland, it needed some spices. But this is for me only, it can be different for you.
And here came the best part of the degustation, my best part as I love sweets.
Their Signature Affogato is a must.
A vanilla ice cream hidden in a chocolate milk ball sitting on some shredded white cake along chocolate cake bits, cocoa powder and a few rose petals.
When the coffee started to be poured over the chocolate ball, it started to melt from the top to the sides and we start seeing the vanilla ice cream in the middle.
Check the below video.
Only one word to describe it: divine.
I highly recommend the Affogato when you visit Vanitas.
