I was invited to try The Melting Pot at the Box Park last week. I was so happy that I was going to finally eat Fondue a French, Swiss and Italian dish of melted cheese served in a communal pot.
The name “fondue” has been generalized to other dishes in which a food is dipped into a communal pot of liquid kept hot in a fondue pot: chocolate fondue, in which pieces of fruit, marshmallows and mini cakes are dipped into a melted chocolate mixture, and fondue bourguignonne, in which pieces of meat are cooked in hot oil.
To start, the friendly waiter Richman, recommended me the Blackberry Sage Lemonade and I thank him for his recommendation. It was indeed a very good and refreshing drink.
The Operation Manager, Mr. Jay welcomed us very warmly and proposed us to take the 4- Course Experience.
What is the 4- Course Experience?
Let me tell you about it in 4 points what you can select from the menu:
1- You choose one cheese fondue per cooktop
2- You choose an individual salad
3- You choose an individual entrée (meat selection) or you can choose the Big Night Out for 2 people
4- You choose one chocolate fondue per cooktop
Let’s start with the Cheese fondue that we chose, we took the Classic Alpine Swiss made of Aged Gruyere, Raclette and Fontina cheeses blended with non-alcoholic white wine, fresh garlic and a dash of nutmeg.
I dipped the bread in the melted hot cheese then I was savoring each bite. I was very happy from the choice of cheese we made, so tasty.
Mr. Jay recommended us to try the Strawberry Almond Salad made of sweet strawberries, honey roasted sliced almonds, and crumbled feta cheese placed atop mixed greens and finished with a raspberry vinaigrette. That was the first time I eat a salad with a raspberry vinaigrette and my first impression was Divine. You have to try this salad, it is not a regular salad that you eat, it is a very special salad that I highly recommend. Now am going to look around in Dubai to see where I can find from this vinaigrette.
And here is the main dish, the Big Night Out.
You have the option to choose from 4 cooking styles:
Seasoned Court Bouillon, Mojo, Coq au Vin and Bourguignonne.
We chose the Moji, a Caribbean Seasoned-Bouillon with a distinctive fresh-garlic flavor and a citrus flair.
It was a new flavor for us that we enjoyed and I recommended for those who wants a light way of cooking.
The dish: Lobster tail accompanied by teriyaki-marinated sirloin, Memphis-style chicken, sesame crusted Ahi tuna, white shrimps, wild mushrooms sacchetti.
And you can enjoyed your meat with 6 different sauces: teriyaki, curry, ginger, cream cheese, gorgonzola and garlic butter.
And here comes the last part, the sweet part 🙂
They offered us to try two different flavors of chocolate and a selection of fresh fruit, mini brownies, mini cakes and marshmallows.
For Peanut Butter lovers, here is the chocolate peanut butter, it was so yummy.
And the below is the White Chocolate with Cinnamon and Banana. I loved this one so much as I am a fan of white chocolate.
I would like to thank Mr. Jay for inviting me to try the Fondue experience and I would like to thank the waiter Richman who was making sure that everything was perfect.
You have to try the Melting Pot, a Fondue restaurant at the Box Park in Dubai on Al Wasl Street.
It is a very nice experience that you can enjoy with your family or friends.
It is a great place to celebrate a birthday as well.
