I was invited to try the newly launched “Cuts & Kilts” Brunch at Scots American Grill that is located in Marriott Al Jaddaf.
“Cuts & Kilts” was launched on Friday 14 October at 6pm and is available every Friday, 6pm onwards.
It is a three-course dinner, where you have to choose one appetizer, one main course and one dessert.
But you might say, why do they call it plated brunch experience?
They call it brunch because they serve surprise dishes in each course.
I will be explaining it more further down.
The cuisine combine Scottish fine foods with familial flavors from America.
You can go on a date with your girlfriend or your wife and you can enjoy a great view of Burj Khalifa!
Our waitress Amie did an amazing job, she made sure that everything was perfect all the time. Thank you Amie!
I highly recommend you to try it! Make sure that you go on an empty stomach because you will eat a lot 🙂
This is the entrance of the restaurant. I love the frame of the bulls!
They are so sweet, they kept me a note on the table to welcome us 🙂
So let’s talk about the food now.
This freshly made bread was served to us hot and has 3 toppings, butter, chicken liver and some pickles.
The bread was amazing, but I think I ate a lot and this was a mistake from me because I got full quickly.
Starting with the appetizers, my wife took the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with baby gem iceberg, American cocktail sauce and Marie Rose dip.
It was very tasty!
And I took the Maryland Crab Cake with fennel-radish slaw with tartare sauce.
It was made with fresh crab meat.
The above two dishes are the appetizers that we have chose from the “Cuts & Kilts” menu.
They brought us the below 2 appetizers as a surprise.
The first one is the Scottish Eggs.
It was flavorsome!
Yum Yum Yum!
And the second surprise appetizer is the Smoked Salmon which was very nice as well.
I have chose for the main course, 200g USDA Prime Tenderloin with triple cooked chips and Portobello mushrooms but I swapped the side dishes with my wife, that is my you don’t see them in my dish below.
I requested them to cook me the tenderloin medium rare.
It was so tender and mouthwatering!
And my wife took the 250g USDA Prime Sirloin with onion rings, creamy spinach and mushroom sauce.
My wife asked for her meat to be well done.
It was a bit dry and I think that it is normal because it was well done.
That is why you should always as for your meat to be medium or medium rare.
The creamy spinach was delicious!
And the surprise dish for the main course was Angus Veal Cheeks served with potato puree and red wine sauce.
Each one of us got one dish of the below.
We are on the last part of the experience.
My wife was so full that she couldn’t eat a dessert anymore.
But myself had still a tiny space and for those who know me, I cannot say no to sweets 🙂
I chose the Baked Scots American Cheesecake with caramel shortbread crust, strawberry sorbet and pistachio.
The portion was huge but I managed to eat it alone, it was so tasty!
And the surprise dessert was a Marshmallow Milkshake which was amazing to finish the experience!
Here is a picture of the cheesecake from above.
A Piece of Art!
I have enjoyed my experience of “Cuts & Kilts”!
It was just amazing!
I recommend you to try it!
