This is a limited edition that you should not miss!
This month marks three years since Café Belge opened its doors at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre, bringing the spirit of 1920s Brussels to Dubai’s dining scene.
To celebrate, the region’s first Grand Café introduces ‘The Best of Café Belge’ – five days of revelries dedicated to showcasing the restaurant’s gourmet roots and vintage glamor. Visit Café Belge from 26th February through until 2nd March and enjoy a series of vibrant experiences, including a limited edition menu and signature beverage experiences, complemented by live jazz performances and entertainment reminiscent of the golden era.
I went for a sneak preview to try it. We were warmly welcome by the newly appointed David Vindis, General Manager of Cafe Belge.
David gave me the set menu and told me not to read it and keep it as a surprise. I followed what he told me and I was trying to guess the ingredients in some of the dishes.
On the right below, Asparagus a la Flamande: White asparagus, grated egg, lemon butter, chives.
This dish is one of the most famous dish in the north of Belgium. The asparagus is considered like the white queen of the vegetables.
On the right top, Filet Americain: Hand cut beef tartare
When they speak about classic, this one is unavoidable, just simply delicious.
On the left top, Corn-Fed Chicken Vol-Au-Vent: Veloute sauce, puff pastry, mushrooms, meatballs
The chicken stew is the most common in Belgium, they eat this one all year round.
In the middle down, Tomato & Grey Shrimps: Poached Egg, pickled onion, crouton, tarragon, truffle emulsion
A Belgium menu is not the same wih Tomato & Grey Shrimps.
On the left below: Salad with Cheese and Walnut
Do you know what was my favourite from all these 5 plates?
All of them are mouthwatering.
But for sure, where ever there is truffle, I melt immediately!
These are the main courses, check down the detail on each dish.
Beef Carbonnade (contains alcohol): Flemish style beer & beer stew.
Belgium is famous for the beer and they use it a lot in the food.
You have to try their Beef Carbonnade, it is flavorful and very tender!
Mussel Pot (contains alcohol): Mariniere Style, Belgian Fries
Mussels and Belgium are a pair, served with Belgium Fries and Mayonnaise.
What do you need more?
The cafe Belge has the best mussels in Dubai, you shouldn’t miss to try them!
Cafe Belge Wagyu Burger: Caramelized endives, passendale cheese, tomato confit
This is the most awarded dish in Cafe Belge, made with their famous vegetable, the endive!
Seared Sea Bass: Warm Liege style salad, fine beans, beef bacon, potatoes, lemon butter
The Liege salad bears its name from one of the most famous city in Belgium.
Simply but tasty, it is one of their classic dishes!
And now let’s talk about my favorite part, the desserts!
Dame Blanche: Vanilla ice cream, warm Belgian chocolate, fresh cream
The Dame Blanche or white lady in English, is the perfect combination between the hot dark chocolate and the white ice cream.
Brussels Waffle Chocolate: Belgian chocolate sauce, whipped cream
In the street of Brussels, you can see people holding them in every corner.
It is just a cultural way to have a snack!
It is very tasty!
I highly recommend you to try it and you shouldn’t miss it.
You will thank me for that!
Enjoy it and remember me…
