My dear readers,
It has been a while since I haven’t written as I was on holidays.
On my arrival and as I didn’t eat Indian cuisine during my trip, I went to have lunch at Omnia Baharat that is located at the new extension of Mall of Emirates.
Omnia Baharat Indian Kitchen is the restaurant by celebrity chef Silvena Rowe.
She has unveiled a brand new look of the restaurant.
You must be wondering why Silvena Rowe who is a famous face on the BBC and on commercial television stations in the UK would do an Indian Street Food Restaurant.
Silvena has always been interested in the various cuisines around the world. The eclectic mix of spices that add flavor and splendor to the Indian cuisine has always enthralled her.
At Omnia Baharat, Silvena showcases the fun side of great tasting Indian street food, prepared with handpicked quality ingredients in a typical Indian kitchen.
Their menu design and pink color is amazingly nice!
So let me start telling you about my experience.
I started with this Passion Fruit Mojito which was very refreshing!
I asked the waitress to recommend me an appetizer and she chose me the Gol Gappa!
What an amazing dish with a very nice presentation!
It is crispy dough balls, stuffed with spiced potato, onion, tamarind chutney, chili, crushed papad and chaat masala, served along with sweet and spicy waters.
By checking the ingredients, it looks spicy but I asked them not to make it spicy for me and this was possible 🙂
I started to get used a bit to spicy but still I prefer to go slowly on the spiciness to enjoy the taste to the max!
As you put the ball in your mouth and start eating it, you will feel a lot of flavors, so yummy!
When I was looking at the appetizers, I was attracted by the Popping Hummus.
Actually it was the word Popping that attracted me.
You must be saying, but Hummus is not Indian, yes you are right, Hummus is from the Middle East.
There are a few dishes in Omnia Baharat menu from the Middle east which is great too.
The hummus taste was perfect, it had the authentic taste of hummus but the only thing I didn’t feel was the popping.
I think they probably forgot to add them.
This is my main dish, it is called the King Grill and it can be easily shared by 2 people.
It had a lamb kebab, chicken tikka, mixed vegatables and paneer skewers served with biryani rice and several sauces.
The chicken was very tender and the paneer so tasty!
It is mouthwatering!
And now reaching the last part of the experience: the Dessert!
I chose the Golden Sphere, a hollowed candy bowl filled with dark chocolate and cardamom mousse, sprinkled with lime zest and served with vanilla ice-cream and mojito cloud.
It was ridiculously tasty!
I highly recommend you to go to Omnia Baharat and try their dishes, you will love it and thank me for my recommendation.
